Food Trends

We are always on the search for new trends. Whether it is fashion, beauty and even food. Here are some of our current favorites that we can't get enough of!

Go Veggie!: So many parents are getting increasingly health conscious or have kids with allergies so we love that there are more companies that offer alternatives so that everyone can enjoy their favorite foods. One of our favorites is Go Veggie, a maker of cheese alternatives. This includes a line of products that are dairy free, lactose free, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, or are simply watching their cholesterol where everyone can enjoy items like Lactose Free Slices, Cream Cheese Alternatives and Lactose Free Blocks. Be sure to visit their website for recipe ideas on how to cook with these tasty dairy-free products.

RiceSelect Texmati and Jasmati rice: Our cupboard is always stocked with rice and one of our favorites is RiceSelect’s Texmati® and Jasmati rice. My kids love this flavorful and aromatic rice that is perfect compliment to our favorite meals like soup or as a flavorful side. Personally, I love that they use a non-GMO proprietary seed that is grown with their own farmers under strict supervision to ensure that their products are not co-mingled with other varieties that may have GMO traits. For Texmati this means the first basmati rice to be successfully grown in America over 35 years ago. Available in white, brown and light brown versions, Texmati® combines the qualities of basmati and American long grain rice. The end result is unsurpassed flavor and aroma that is perfect for conjuring up the perfect chicken & rice soup or casserole for wintery days. For something sweeter, we love theThai jasmine rice that consists of tender white grains - making it ideal for a bowl of rice pudding.

Power Crunch: There are so many protein bars on the market that it can be hard to tell them apart. One of our newest favorites is Power Crunch, a line of protein bars that uses hydrolyzed protein, which is immediately absorbed by the body and provides sustenance for the brain and muscles while maintaining blood sugar at a constant, healthy level. My girls have a sweet tooth so on occasion I like to give them a bar to spilt for something a little sweet that actually only has 5 grams of sugar or less. They also great for a pick-me-up since they come in light crème-filled wafer cookie bars that don’t weigh down your stomach. This includes a line of tasty bars like Triple Chocolate, French Vanilla Créme, Peanut Butter Créme, Peanut Butter Fudge, Cookies & Créme, and Wildberry Créme. Another benefit is that they don't have a waxy and gross aftertaste that most protein bars are associated with.

Taste Nirvana Real Coconut Water: There are a lot of Coconut Waters out there on the market but a lot of them are packed with sugars. We recently discovered something different with Taste Nirvana, an all-natural, Thailand originated, coconut water that is preservative-free and packed with potassium. After a long day or post-workout I love drinking the refreshing the Taste Nirvana coconut water that is packed with flavor and quickly replenishes and hydrates my body. They also come in different flavors like the Thai Chili Extract that gives you just the right kick of spice as well as the bonus of the spices that can speed up the metabolism and even clear sinus congestion.

Organic India - Organic Ghee: We love to flavor our food, but we also want to make sure that there are health benefits associated with additional flavors. One of our newest favorites to add to our food is Organic Ghee, a substance that is made simmering butter over low heat and removing the milk solids as they form. An incredible source of essential fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6), organic ghee is an incredible complement to cooking that can replace butter by being used for baking, sauteing and frying. I have used it to enhance our veggies, pastas and topping it on popcorn. Another benefit is that Ghee is known to help the body during pregnancy and it can be applied to the body and used for massage, as a bath oil, skin care item and even to treat tired eyes.
