We're always on the lookout for a great spot to get the haircuts for the kiddos. A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to check out the new children's hair salon at Chelsea Piers, called-appropriately-Chelsea Shears.
I didn't really know what to expect, given that Chelsea Piers is a large establishment known for its various children's sports programs, but I can tell you that I was definitely impressed. We walked in to find a very clean area with a darling play mat and toys for the younger children. I took both my 3 year old and my 2 year old for trims, and we munched on popcorn and played the claw game while the other child was having their hair cut.
Every station in the salon has a flat screen television and a collection of cartoons for the kids to choose from. I loved the stylist and thought he was warm, friendly and careful with the kids. Moreover, I was really impressed with how well their hair turned out. Jack's hair isn't easy to cut given that he has a few pesky cowlicks, but the stylist really did a fabulous job. Zoe, my two year old, was in for her very first professional cut, and did remarkably well in his care. Her hair looked like a little doll's when he was done drying it.
I found the salon's atmosphere to be vibrant, clean and welcoming and will definitely be going back. It's no easy task to cut toddlers hair well while keeping them happy, so I give them major kudos. It was a fantastic experience. Haircuts are $25 and the salon is open Tuesday through Sunday. Click here for hours.
