My 4 year old got the chance to build her first bear at the Build-A-Bear store in Midtown. The space is enormous, bright and clean.

Let me just say there were TONS of tasteful, sweet bears. My princess-smitten daughter picked the gaudiest thing there--a sparkly pink unicorn. She loved it immediately, named her Alysa and off we went to see Alysa get packed with fluff. My daughter loved picking out a heart to put inside her new pal. And then as a part of a special promotion, we got to
pick a dress and shoes for Alysa the unicorn: Pink tutu with butterfly wings and sparkly purple flip flops. Mind you, I worked in fashion for Ralph Lauren for seven years--it was tough not to steer her towards the preppier options. After the wardrobe, we got a birth certificated and cardboard box (her house) for Alysa and were on our way. All a good day's fun and a perfect spot for Grandparents to spoil a kid properly.

Don't miss the NYC only collection of Mets and Yankees bears perfect for little fans. If you're on the hunt for a outside birthday party venue, this is a lot more sane than a noisy food factory that caters to kids (you know the ones) and starts at just $10 per guest.

Kids in the Kitchen: Mini Banana Waffle Pies With Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce

School has started back for many (us included!), and today's Kid's in the Kitchen recipe makes for a perfect breakfast or after-school snack. We made ours for an after-school snack the other day and my second grader loved it. We call this recipe Mini Banana Waffle Pies With more

We also love how they give back. During the holidays, families can create a furry friend at Build a Bear Workshop to donate to U.S. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation who will distribute to kids in need in communities across the country. During the Stuffed with Hugs weekend (currently in its eleventh year), more than 25,000 furry friends will be made and given to less fortunate children where guests will also enjoy a variety of weekend activities celebrating the 15th birthday of Build-A-Bear Workshop.
