Last weekend my daughter enjoyed unique experience by having her own belt made at Badichi Belts in Soho. I never really thought about the concept of belt-making as an activity for my daughter, but after visiting Badichi Belts the idea made sense as a fun and quick activity where kids and parents can be creative and creative a custom accessory.
Offering over 50,000 combinations of belts and buckles, both kids and adults can go to town creating a truly cool, utterly unique belt that is sure to make a fashion statement. The concept is simple: Choose from various colors and textures of leather, select a unique buckle to complete the look, and then allow a belt specialist to cut the belt to your exact waist measurement. These belts make incredible gifts or amazing accents to one’s own personal style.
At the store, my daughter and I looked around at all of the varieties of belts from purple ones to classic tans. We then looked around at all of the buckles and saw everything for bikers to classic looks for a suit. She opted for a gold belt and picked a buckle with flowers on it. Her waist was measured by an employee and within two minutes her customized belt was made.

After the belt came together, I had the chance to speak with the owner about the concept. Created in 2009 by Yinon Badichi who wanted "to bring individualism and imagination to the everyday belt." As an item that everyone uses, beltmaking and it's craftsmanship has been traded in for convenience. At Badichi, you will discover a quick option as well as one that uses high-quality materials while also showcasing your personality. A passionate and dedicated business owner, Yinon has been able to grow this concept to five stores in NYC (check out the locations here) with plans to expand and offer custom options for handbags and bracelets.
Those that don't live in NYC can also customized their own belt by going to Badichi Belts.com. You simply pick your belt strap color and select your size. They also have a custom option where you can opt for a skinny, medium, wide or classic belt size, and then pick your strap size, and buckle size.
Badichi Belts also offers in-store event spaces for private parties at their five NYC locations, along with your choice of food and drink catering (with wine for adults!) An enjoyable experience for all ages, a belt-making party is the perfect alternative to the regular birthday party, after-school activity or get-together event.
