Do you have your back-to-school look all set? We recently chatted with Jenny Cooper's (J. Crew’s Head Designer of Crewcuts and mother of two) who put together her top picks for boys and girls to make sure their picture day style is fresh and fun.
We're spotting a few themes here that we think ALL parents are going to love. Wearable clothes that balance style and comfort.
We polled the "boymoms" who write for Momtrends and they gave the nod to a few of these picks so we highlighted the items that will likely end up in our J.Crew shopping basket. the Puma sneaks make the cut thanks to the cool colors and solid construction (yes, you can actually run in them). Also thumbs up on the plaid shirt, from what we hear this is as dressy as boys want to get!
Top Picks for Girls
• Navy flower print dress
• Soft cat prints (esp. sweatshirt)
• Indian touches in girls
• Avec Amour sparkle jersey
• neon orange “Love" necklace (editor's note: have this and it's a winner!)
• Bungi cord bracelets w/ stones
• Grey leopard fur vest
• Glitter gold McAllister boot
Maybe I'm bias but girls are slightly easier to dress. On the whole (and there are exceptions) girls like to be involved in the process. Our girls loved the goodies J.Crew sent over--especially the jewelry. And we feel that J.Crew is a terrific place to find "special touches like sparkle boots and faux leopard vests.
We also love their fun graphic tees and shirts including cute styles like the Girls' Paris street map tee, Girls' Olive yoga tee and the Boys' ringer tee in neon stripe for the ultimate in back-to-school comfort and style.
Also, J. Crew recently partnered with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that specifically helps public school students and teachers, for the month of September where for every back-to-school photo Instagrammed along with the hashtag #crewcuts, J. Crew will donate one book to a classroom in need.
