Style: The Top 5 "Must Have" Bags

If there is one thing in my closet that I could really stand to consolidate, it would be the amount of bags I've collected over the years. Yes, this we know, I have a weakness for a beautiful purse. When you think about it, something as simple as a handbag could be the one thing that pulls your entire look together, it can take a casual outfit and make it either dressy or formal, and finally - I think it's one of the most powerful ways a woman can really show her own personal style and taste in one simple accessory.

With all the possible options out there, it can be overwhelming to try and decide what's worth the buy and what won't get used so I've made a list of 5 bags that I think every girl should have in her closet. This collection could be where you (over time) make some investments in the pieces that you know are timeless and will be used for years to come.

The "Weekender" : This beautiful bag will be the one you grab when you're headed out of town for just a few days. It's a beautiful tan leather that's just big enough to fit your essentials for a few relaxing days away from home. This duffle bag also makes for a great carry-on option in the airport, too! I can't deny my love for a beautiful, soft and cognac leather bag. My ultimate weakness.

The "Statement" : I was so torn between featuring a red bag or a pink one for this category but ultimately, any color outside of the neutral zone will do! This pretty and pink chain strap bag is going to be great in the summer for pops of color or a go-to option when you're headed out on the town. Statement bags are usually smaller in size than an Everyday Bag because it's really there for a fun occasion! It's exciting, it's different, and it makes a statement! Step away from the norm and grab a bag that one would least expect.

The "Summer Staple" : Nothing really says "Summer is FINALLY here" like taking out my favorite straw tote for the day. It completely replaces the leather bags that I carry most of the year and even though the material is clearly different, it's still neutral in color and goes with everything. It just screams beach, seashore, and vacation to me even when my everyday routine is anything but carefree. I prefer to get an oversized bag and if you can find one with a canvas lining, it will be more durable over time. (Budget Friendly Version HERE)

The "Everyday" : This would be my default, everyday, 3/4's of the year bag. The one that you rarely empty and is big enough to carry your day-to-day essentials...as well as any kid-necessary items. I think once I had Ava and she grew out of a diaper bag, I couldn't find my way back to anything smaller than a tote. I became so used to all the extra room that I never looked back those medium sized purses. In fact, that's pretty much as small as I get even when I go out at night! Again, a neutral color, like this pretty tan is going to go with everything in your wardrobe so you won't be looking to matchy-match your outfit every morning in the hopes that your bag is going to fit the bill. I love the taller straps because you can carry it in your hand, rest it on your arm, or carry it on your shoulder. It's the smartest bag I own and gets the most milage all year long. The "Occassion" : Every girl should have that perfect evening bag, black, leather, quilted, chain strap, the whole nine yards. It really doesn't get anymore classic than this particular style right here and while I know some women have a little trouble investing in a bag that's reserved for special occasions, I can assure you that you'll be so glad you have it every time the opportunity presents itself for you to use it. I have been known to use this style for both dressy and casual occasion and to be honest, no matter what you're doing or where you're going, this beautiful bag will pull your entire look together and be the polished icing on top. What I love about this particular bag is that the chain is removable and it can also be used as a clutch. Perfect!

*The runner up? A clutch (in a print, maybe?!). While I find myself using them less and less these days, they are nice to have on hand for an easy date night or a lunch with girlfriends where you don't require too much in your bag.
