Bathing suit season is just around the corner so while I love to celebrate with a good cocktail, the calories can add up. And then I met RSVP Skinnies, the guilt-free portable packets that are an all-natural calorie-free and sugar-free way to make a lightened up cocktail at home or when you're out with friends.
Skinnies come in four flavors - Cosmos, Margaritas, Mai Tais and Gimlets - that you mix with the appropriately paired alcohol. Cosmo + vodka, margarita + tequila and so on. The mixers don't have any calories or any sugar - just a pinch of stevia leaf extract and erythritol from melons. I love that they don't have preservatives, aspartame or artificial colors like so many other cocktail mixers do.
To mix up a cocktail, you combine 1.5oz of alcohol, 4 oz. of club soda or water, and 1 Skinnies packet with ice. Voila! The powder dissolves instantly and doesn't leave a gritty texture. You can spice up your cocktail a bit more with salt on the rim or a squeeze of citrus.

Planning Snack Sized Fall Family Adventures
Fall is simply the best time of year for family adventures. When you live in New England, nature simply beckons you outdoors. Life was simpler when the girls were little, we had wide open calendars and outdoor adventures were easier to execute. But now with school plays, cross ...read more
Now let's be honest - this is a light cocktail (low calories, low sugar) and it tastes that way. You will not confuse this with your favorite happy hour margarita. But Skinnies do allow you to get a little taste of your favorite cocktail without all the calories of the original.
I tried out Skinnies with a few girlfriends recently, and while they only rely on stevia, I definitely felt like I could taste it. I don't use stevia regularly though and girlfriends who do, didn't seem to notice any aftertaste with the Skinnies. I do really like that the portable packets make it easy to cut your cocktail calories if you are going out for drinks with friends - which can be a hard time to stick to your low calorie goals. Just order a vodka + club soda and add in your own Skinnies packet to make your drink more interesting without all the sugary, calorie-filled mixers.
