I discovered Plan Toys this past Christmas when my four year old daughter received a dollhouse and we filled it with the Plan Toys kitchen accessories and furniture. So I was eager to test the Twist Sorter before it hits the shelves this spring.
Like the dollhouse furniture and accessories, the new Twist Sorter offers the same high quality and unique design as other Plan Toys. But unlike other shape sorters, the Twist Sorter has a wooden template which can be moved in eight different directions, revealing 8 different solutions.
The 4 shapes (square, circle, rectangle and triangle) have connecting partners which can be twisted to create a solid or a dual-colored shape. With this unique design children not only learn shapes and colors, but more importantly how things work.
I gave the Twist Sorter to my 4 year old daughter, without any instruction, and she immediately began twisting the shapes and placing them in the correct space on the template. After a few minutes, I showed her how the template turned and the shapes twisted to match both the template'??s shape and the color. She then whizzed through the eight combinations and left the pieces behind for her brother to gum.
Keeping any child engaged can be challenging, so providing toys, like the Twist Sorter, that offers both mental and tactile stimulation are perfect for little ones. To see the full assortment of Plan Toys go here.
