Planning a Colorful Summer Party

setting a colorful table

Schools almost out and I'm planning my first party of summer. It's going to be a Mom's Night Out celebration! We've made about 200 lunches this year. We've cobbled together costumes and science projects. We've driven countless miles to soccer practice and overseen hours and hours of homework. Time to party!

First step? Heading to Pier1 for colorful inspiration. I started with the dinnerware. I scooped up 10 sets of this Sunny Melamine and glasses shown in the feature. Then I added in some linens and napkin rings and the colors become rich and layered. Now we're starting to get a theme together!

My favorite piece was this Floral Mosaic Lantern (I got two of them) followed by the Butterflies and Bells windchimes .

My shopping outing resulted in some fabulous finds. I'm thrilled with all the tableware I found---all of it non-breakable and perfect for near the pool.

Next I'm hunting for a few colorful chairs to round out what we've already got on our deck. Pier1 had such an array of colorful pillows--I might just be able to get away with freshening up the outdoors with some new accessories.

On my pondering list:

San Martin Chairs ($99 each) and the Double Swingsaan

And maybe a few of these side tables. Do you like any of these?

I'm working on my "Sizzlin' Summer" Playlist. Be sure to leave a comment with your favorite tune for a summer party! From here, I'll start planning food and the invite list. I can almost smell the fresh limes being squeezed for the first margaritas of the night!
