I was raised by a single mom. And as anyone knows who is a single parent, or has been raised by one, it's the toughest, yet most rewarding job in the world. You take on the role of both parents, so unless you're lucky enough to have a village helping you, there's no rest for the weary. You drop into bed at the end of the day barely able to lift your head. There are times you think you can't possibly get through another day...but you do because you're one TOUGH MOTHER!
Now that I'm a parent myself and married to an extremely supportive partner, I can truly appreciate just how tough my mom had it and how much she sacrificed to make sure we always had everything we needed and that we always felt loved to the moon and back. There are days when I can't wait for the hubs to walk in the door and relieve me from my mommy duties. That doesn't mean I don't absolutely adore being a mother, it just means sometimes I simply need a break. For my mom, there was no break.
Thankfully, when I was in my twenties, she met my step-dad, who my sister and I fully consider a parent now, and it's been a joy to watch her eyes sparkle again. Not to mention the fact that my kids have two dedicated grandparents who think they can do no wrong. Haha! Yeah, my mom is as an amazing a grandparent as she was a parent. Those wee ones of mine clamor for Mimi and Bud time like nothing else. We're all so lucky to have her leading the way as our family matriarch!

So, this Mother's Day, I'm celebrating the toughest mother I know...my mom! In fact, I treated her to a special surprise a bit early. I gave her Teleflora's gorgeous Garden Pitcher Bouquet. The charming garden-inspired bouquet came complete with lovely lavender roses, white asiatic lilies, purple carnations, lavender stock, lavender cushion spray chrysanthemums, lavender sinuata statice, seeded eucalyptus and variegated pittosporum. So many beautiful blooms...and my mom couldn't have been more pleased with them!
If you want to show your mom how much you care this Mother's Day, you can't go wrong with a Teleflora arrangement! All of their bouquets are professionally arranged and hand-delivered by a local florist. Some of them even come with a one-of-a-kind keepsake container that your mom can use long after the flowers are gone. You can bet that my mom will be breaking out her garden pitcher regularly!
Did you know we here at Momtrends Media partnered with Teleflora to survey some of our favorite moms? We asked them things like why being a mom is the toughest job you'll ever love (balancing being a mom was number one), who the toughest celebrity moms are (Jennifer Garner topped the list) and what moms really want this Mother's Day (45% wanted flowers and something homemade)...I thought the Top 5 States with the Most “Tough Moms” data was particularly interesting...Notice number two? That's where my mama lives! Haha!
1. New York
5. New Jersey
As a special tribute to moms everywhere this Mother’s Day, Teleflora’s has released a new “One Tough Mother” video. You can watch it HERE!
