Taking a page from the boy's playbook today. I'm sharing tips on how to style the classics menswear shoe, the oxford. According to Wikipedia, "An Oxford is a style of laced shoe characterized by shoelace eyelet tabs that are stitched underneath the vamp." The particular style of shoe was popular at Oxford University and the name stuck.
To try out the trend, I scored a sample from Hush Puppies.I love the lacey/crochet detail on the sides. A great transition shoe. They can work with your summer tops and then also match up well to fall fashions.
As far as the footwear trend goes, I am mixed. It's certainly works if you are tall and thin (that's why it rocks on Taylor Swift and Sienna Miller). But I'm not so sure about the petite gals. I know HOW to wear it--you've got to blend in some femme pieces or it goes a little too far into the boys club for me.
They just didn't do anything for me with a skirt. I paired it with slim jeans which I rolled up. This pair is Lauren Conrad for Kohl's. Still pretty tomboyish. But I added a very girlie top--a crochet number from Anthropologie ($98).
The hair was easy. I started with two pins at the top of my head and then wrapped the braid around the side.
I went for a touch more floral with the Vera Wang bracelet(also from Kohl's). This is a outfit well-suited to a day with the kids when I have to run errands or do a bunch of styling. The shoes are supremely comfortable, and when I want to take a break from a heel it's nice to have an option.
What do you think about this trend? I hope youll share what youve been wearing on Monday Mingle. Monday Mingle is a fashionable collaboration between me, Jill from Glamamom and Kristin from BonBonRoseGirls. Each week we post about our personal style and then invite our friends to join in the fun. Jill is back in action this week. Everyone is invited to head to Glamamom here to link up!

Momtrends was not paid for this post. As always, we get a lot of free clothing to style. But no one paid me to put any of this together.
