This week, Momtrends held our annual beauty event where some of NYC's top bloggers and editors gathered for mini-makeovers, blowouts, beauty advice and savvy financial advice.

Held at Blow, a high-end salon offering signature blowout services and innovative hair products, the event kicked off where bloggers and editors were given three look cards to transform their tresses into a sophisticated ponytail, fun curls and an elegant updo. Pam of Triple Threat Mommy, Jenna of Mommy in Manhattan and Rebecca of Kidz Vuz were on-hand to model these no-fuss looks as experts from blow went over how to master them at home.

Guests also had the chance to have makeup touch ups from the stellar QVC bareMineralsline where they had a chance to test out some of the and get the scoop fun trends and colors of the season from bareMinerals' expert Jessica Foust. Jessica spoke about how this mineral makeup doesn't weight down the skin since it is 100% natural without any preservatives, fillers, or binders. This makes the line wonderful for virtually every skin type and includes everything from a fun palette for your eyes to treatments and light (but effective) powders for your skin.
Nicole also had a fun video shoot with QVC where she tested out the line - including looks for "low-maintenance chic," must-haves for going on a getaway, and how to wear metallic eye shadow (read more about that here).
While networking and mingling, guests also sipped summer cocktails featuring champagne and delicious gelato from Ciao Bella that was a refreshing way to enjoy the evening. In-between 'refreshing new looks,' guests had the chance to hear from Valerie Malone, Beauty Director of O, The Oprah Magazinewhere she discussed beauty tips, her professional career, and how she did worked as a freelancer while also having small children.
As bloggers, who are balancing home and career, she struck a chord when she said, "Women can't have it all at once...we can have it serially. And that's ok." Valerie also went to share her top beauty tips that included advice for aging skin and how women only need retinoids, sunscreen, and a mild cleanser. As for a beauty routine, Valerie said all you need is tinted moisturizer, black mascara, lip gloss and blush! We all loved hearing about this low maintenance chic as Valerie stated, "less is more" with skincare.

Beauty is also about protecting our skin and following a rountine that includes skincare. She stated that women spend blindly with our debit or credit cards - wracking up bills and becoming disconnected from money. Galia suggested to establish a weekly budget and to use cash. She also suggested that women need to start saving now and think about retirement. She also that it is a gift to live worry-free and not to have your children financially support you because you didn't save. She also said that women should make sure they have enough life insurance and know how much insurance is on their partner's account. Galia also stated that women need to get organized about their bills and designated a day to bill payment as well as feeling confident and knowing their credit score.
A rousing evening devoted to inner and outer beauty, guests had a great time getting glam, learning some more beauty tips and finding out how to become more financially savvy. Now, that is a beautiful thing.
