Inside Our Exclusive #MTSkylanders Event
I’m a Skylanders newbie.
My children are young, and we haven’t yet reached the "gaming stage." Unless, of course, you count my husband—he’s like a big kid with a console and a remote in-hand. He could spend hours immersing himself in fictional fantasy lands… Hmmm, maybe I shouldn’t tell him the top-secret news I just learned from the world of Skylanders.
Yesterday, the Momtrends team gathered a few of our favorite family bloggers for our action-packed #MTSkylanders event at Tarallucci e Vino. We ate an amazing Italian meal, mingled with friends, created a cool travel-inspired craft, and, yes, got a very exclusive sneak-peek at what’s to come from Skylanders.
So, what’s the big news? Skylanders is taking to land, sea, and air with Skylanders SuperChargers! Yep, soon enough, you’ll be able to explore and navigate the mountainous terrains, deep-sea environments, and vast blue skies of Skylands with incredibly detailed vehicles—many of which feature moving parts that will play in the real world and come to life via the game portal.
You’ll have the freedom to zoom across roads in combat, speed down roaring rapids, and engage in aerial dogfights while barreling through enemy swarms. Fans will also be able to customize vehicles with super-cool modifications and upgrades!
New and returning heroes will bring fresh moves, intricate weapons, and more to the game. Skylanders SuperChargers will support all 300+ Skylanders toys from previous games, enabling existing Skylanders characters to get behind the wheel of land, sea, and sky-based vehicles.
Excited yet? I am too! (And I haven’t even played the original version.) We’ll have to wait a little longer, though—it releases on Sept. 20. (Early holiday gift, anyone?!?)
Here's our highlight video from the event:
To celebrate all things Skylanders, our Creative Director lead us through a super-fun, easy, and crafty project that will help us in our own real-life land, sea, and sky adventures. Using colorful masking tape, stickers, card stock, and markers, we made personalized luggage tags. Next, we packed road-trip survival bags. We loaded them with cute character pillows, thermos sippy-cups, insulated lunchboxes, and Skylanders coloring books. Now, we’ll all be ready for all our warm-weather trips! It’s a good thing that our summers are full of travel plan. It’ll help make the time pass quicker… Because we’re counting down the days until Sept. 20.
