When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go. Or, at least, so says the saying. But sometimes “going” is not so luxurious… or convenient. Or, well, plausible.
Closed or broken public bathrooms, clogged toilets, cleaning-crew blockades, and emergency situations… Who hasn’t found themselves in a precarious potty situation once or twice?
I’ve been there myself—and with kids, well, we’ve had to get creative a few times during our regular NYC outings and playground adventures.
Sometimes, it’s more about wanting peace, quiet, and privacy. When I used to work in the Flatiron district, I’d run out of the office and go to the hotel across the street to use their always-empty fifth-floor facilities. (Insider tip for anyone who works near the Eventi Hotel!) I was lucky to find my own personal sanctuary, but most people don’t have a luxury hotel within a practical run-to-to-the-potty proximity.
Or, there was that time that my newly toilet-trained little dude just HAD to do his business the moment we stepped out of Penn Station. Yes, we could’ve gone back inside the jam-packed commuting hub, but those bathroom are notoriously icky, sticky, and gross.
And that, in a nutshell, is the brilliance behind the new Charmin Van-Go mobile powder room. Equipped with a fully functional toilet, sink, and plumbing system this bad boy is hitting the streets of NYC, and coming to a corner near you.
I was able to catch a sneak peek of the Van-Go yesterday morning, and was quite impressed. Reading material at the ready, a flat LCD screen, an endless supply of plush and soft Charmin TP, and lots of extra amenities to make it so that you really can #EnjoytheGo.
Television’s Anthony Anderson was on hand for the big bathroom launch, and I was even able to talk to him about some potty-break faux pas. I asked him to tell me about a time when he could’ve used a bathroom STAT, and he said it was in the forest during a hike. Needless to say, he could have used the Van-Go—or at least a roll of Charmin toilet paper.
Good news, New Yorkers, you, too, can #EnjoytheGo, just visit CharminVanGo.com, and follow the simple directions to request a Charming Van-Go. With just a few clicks, you can have a totally private and meticulously clean bathroom delivered directly to your neighborhood… Unless you’re on a hike. In which case BYO, Charmin.
