Lucky me. I'm still in charge of the fashion decisions for our family. But slowly the tide is starting to shift and my 5 year-old is asserting her fashion independence (wherever did she get this streak?). It's getting trickier to dress her in the morning--especially with footwear. The new eco-friendly mary janes (called the Pally) from Terra Plana are a solution.

She's been living in her new Pally shoes ($60) all summer. No socks required and the bold yellow seems to g with everything on her warm weather wardrobe. Mom feels good since this shoe is 100% vegan (no animals were harmed to make her feet happy). I inquired why she loves them, "they make me want to dance"--enough said. Perhaps it's the ultra thin (3mm) puncture resistant sole.

The company is striving to be low-impact on the earth and treat feet kindly. These kids' shoes have Vivobarefoot Technology to strengthen the muscles in feet (maybe that's why they inspire my daughter to dance!), realign posture and stimulate sensory perception. They give you all the protection of normal shoes and health benefits of going barefoot.

And this isn't a company that discriminates when it comes to style. How about these boy's Aquarius kicks ($70)?

Momtrends was not paid for this post. We did get a pair of shoes to test.
