We're giving the jean legging trend a thumbs up. Ideal for moms (see the ultra-chic mom Jessica Alba), this combination of sturdy denim, plus the movement of leggings equals a fashion DO in our book. But before you run off and buy a pair take note of our style tips.

It's all about proportion. You don't want clingy fabrics from head to toe. With jeggings, you want to have the volume on top scarves and large necklaces are a great balance for this trend. Top it off with a chic cardigan and then layer on an accessory and your good to go.

Skip the high heels unless you are on the runway. Yes, all the fashion mags are pairing "jeggings" (jeans+leggings) with heels, but we think this is one trend moms should skip. Stick to jeweled flats for right now and then when fall arrives pair them with boots. We absolutely love how easily these bottoms work with boots. Proof: See how good Blake Lively looks in her jeggings and boots.

Brands we love. J Brand has owned this trend, as one of my mom friends put it--"this hugs in all my mommy parts and makes me look awesome" couldn't agree more. Expect to pay around $150. We say opt for the dark denim. The acid wash is simply not a good fashion investment. And we think it's pretty awesome that JBrand offers this style in maternity jeans!

At BlogHer, all the ladies were swooning for the MiracleBody jegging. While I don't love the elastic waistband, I do see the value in comfort. Just be sure not to show your waistband. The fabric is designed to smooth out your figure and "make you look 10 lbs thinner." We're not making promises, but we do like the trim silhouette. $68 on Amazon.

We love this pair from Paige Denim Womens Verdugo Jegging - Lux ($158). It's got a subtle brocade print making it ideal for Mommy's Night Out. We say pair it with a simple flowy romantic top. Please don't match tight top with fitted leggings.

Value play? Joes' jeans are $49. If you don't want to invest a bundle in this trend this might be the jean for you. This pair has a zip ankle.
