It's back to school time for lots of kids, and it's the perfect time to inspire kids for the new school year ahead. Here are three great back-to-school books:
The hilarious Marco Goes to School is especially good for kids ages 3-8. ($16.99, Simon & Schuster). Written and illustrated by TheNew Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast, there are tons of hidden and not-so-hidden jokes as readers follow Marco to school on his first day. For kids who may be worried about how things will go at school, Marco's ability to have a great time, despite being a bird among children, should put them at ease.
And it's not just birds that can go to school. In Marley Goes to School (HarperCollins), written by Josh Grogan and illustrated by Richard Crowdey, the lovable family dog Marley (from Marley and Me fame) follows Cassie to school on her first day. A fun read, and kids can enjoy imagining what would happen if a dog really came to school. Ages 3+, $17.99.
Older Kids will enjoy this I Can Read Book from HarperCollins: Monster School: First Day Frights, by Dave Keane. This story follows Norm's first day at Monster School. Between his monster classmates and his one-eyed teacher Miss Clops, Norm worries he will never fit-in at his new school. After getting to know some of the other students, Norm realizes he may be "normal" but he still gets along just fine with his unusual classmates. Ages 4+, $16.99.
If Marco, Marley and Norm can do it... so can any kid! Here's to a great school-year ahead! To see some of out favorite Back to School fashion trends head to this post.
