Hitting the streets--that's how we get 90% of the feature ideas here on Momtrends. Sure we get plenty of PR pitches, but we're always on the hunt for what's fresh, what's new and what other mom-centric media might be missing. That's why we haunt trade shows. And we've got a new favorite event--Play Time New York.
Playtime New York, The International Trade Show Dedicated to the Universe of Children and Maternity Wear. Many of the small brands (like the featured soft sculpture from Tamar Mogendorff) you'll see highlighted this month and in our upcoming gift guide were spotted at this trade-only event.
Word is the show will be back in March to NYC. This is one event that's inspiring and makes me joyous about the talent that surrounds me. Here's a peek at some of our finds from summer.
We loved the color of Clemence G's booth. Everything we saw at this show felt special and designed for discerning parents (and yes, expensive)
Unlike large, dark trade shows, this one was in a Soho loft and flooded with light. There were surprises at each turn.
We loved all the handmade items. The designers at this Wool and the Gang booth were working away on new creations.
How awesome was the hipster booth from Bottle Freaker! Knit covers for your breakables. While the product is cool the booth took the prize.
Toys or works of art? You decide how to use the HuLuv lovelies. We get bummed out by the endless pitches for toys with batteries that will clog landfills. Hurrah for handmade.
