Back-to-school time means thinking about giving your kids a place to do homework and foster their love of learning. A new desk could be just the thing to encourage your kids to be both academic and perhaps develop a keen sense of style too. One of our picks for fall is this vintage-inspired Trestle Desk from Restoration Hardware ($599).
We don't have much homework to contend with (yet)--but I do love the idea of giving my preschoolers a desk to encourage creativity. Most kiddie desks that will accommodate a young child seem like a waste--in a year or two they'll look too babyish. Not so this find from Restoration Hardware. The size is perfect for an adult or child (dimensions: 54"W x 26"D x 30"H). It doesn't overwhelm either of my young girls--yet gives them room to work on a large project with room to spare. Its inspired by an antique French architect's table, and is constructed from solid reclaimed elm made from antique doors.
UPDATE: We ordered this desk and requested NOT to be added to any mailing lists. Sadly RH did not listen. And the delivery was delayed by three weeks because they had the wrong phone number. Momtrends does not endorse this brand. Until they improve customer service--we say shop elsewhere.
