To kick off NYC's BlogHer conference, Ralph Lauren hosted a swank cocktail event to introduce a new children's book series and interactive shopping experience called RL Gang. Part story book, part shopping portal this concept is bound to be a success.

The online version of the book is narrated by Harry Connick Jr and features a gang of adorable and talented kids. As the eight children embark on their adventure you can click on an image and shop the clothing that the character is wearing. It's a virtual book as well as a traditional book--the hardback copy has gorgeous illustrations and can be purchased at Tikatok.com ($18.95)

The book debuts tomorrow August 18th--just in time for back to school shopping. Here's a peek at the online version:
