I hit the streets for a fun NYC fashion shoot. I've been teaming up with Erin & Erica at Bellamy Blue for the past few months for our Monday style posts. Mostly we do our fashion shoots in the Chelsea studio, but these fun Eileen Fisher Harem Pants were just begging to see the action outside.
The look started months ago when I got to meet Eileen Fisher at an event. Eileen had these amazing black pants on on--they had such movement and grace to them. After the event, I talked the ladies at Eileen Fisher PR into lending me an outfit (including the pants!) for a photoshoot.
The Harem Pants ($178) are a lightweight viscose. Yes, to some they are baggy, but I thought it was the best of a pant and a skirt combined. The freeness of a skirt with the coverage of a pant.
I set out to accessorize the look and make it my own. In my opinion, they look a little silly with flats, so I tossed on some high, strappy sandals. The other key is the top. Flowy on top and bottom? Not a good look.
To make this work, I picked a top that was slightly body-conscious. I had a fitted white tank layered with the Eileen Fisher Scoop Tank with Sequins ($278), again an airy piece that has a touch of glamor to it.
As far as jewelry, I wore a pair of chandelier earrings I picked up in India back in 2004. The bracelets are from Charming Charlie they are a stretchy bangle and come in four metallic finishes. I think they are something like $5/each. These were gifted to me at a press event this winter and I wear them a ton.
Before the shoot, I showed the look to Mr.Momtrends. He was not a fan. But let's be realistic. A lot of fashion is meant to be playful and make the woman inside happy. And this outfit did just that.
After shooting a few pictures in the studio that captured the nuts and bolts of the look, we raced out to 7th Avenue before the studio time was up to nab these last fun shots. I love the playfulness and the energy of them. I'm pretty lucky to work with such creative partners.
These street shots are some of the favorite photos I've taken yet. Let me tell you, it's a whole different ballgame shooting out of a private studio. People were watching and I felt a little self-conscious. But then, the best thing happened. I just loved the look and let go of who thought what and had fun. That my fashion friends, is a success story.
Now what about you? I hope youll share what youve been wearing on Monday Mingle. Monday Mingle is a fashionable collaboration between me, Jill from Glamamom and Kristin from BonBonRoseGirls. Each week we post about our personal style and then invite our friends to join in the fun. Today I get to host again. I'm going to give away a Stells & Dot cosmetics bag and votive candle to one lucky fashionista who links up.

Momtrends was not paid for this post. As always, we get a lot of free clothing to style. But no one paid me to put any of this together. You must be 18 and a US resident to win. Everyone who enters will be added to the Momtrends monthly newsletter.
