Target has done it again. This time the fabulous fashion is for pint-sized shoppers--specifically girls 4-10. The clothes are part of a partnership between Target and Annie the Movie. The clothes will arrive in stores in early November just in time to build excitement for the NEW Annie movie with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz that hit theaters in late December--just in time for Christmas. For the event launch here in New York City, the Target team brought some Hollywood glamor. They assembled racks of the fashions for guests to gush over. The collection is loaded with glam--sequins, tulle skirts, and the iconic red dress. But there's also plenty of modern touches--embellished denim, funky leggings and loads of accessories.
At this preview event a select group of girls got to pick a few favorite pieces to try. Costume designer Renée Ehrlich Kalfus was there to talk about her inspiration for the new movie. Renée told me she wanted layering pieces that were full of texture--she pointed out the cozy mohair sweater. When it came to denim, she wanted lots of modern embellishments. The designer couldn't have been sweeter and she thoroughly enjoyed helping the little shoppers pick outfits. I think the adorable, spunky cast of orphans must have LOVED wearing these clothes.
In addition to seeing the clothes and meeting Renée, the girls took a dance class from the movie's choreographer. Here is a quick video highlight of the Annie for Target Dance Class Event:
