I’m a mama in her thirties. I can’t possibly wear neon right? WRONG! Neon isn’t just for teenagers lovelies…There are so many fabulous ways that us women can rock neon without looking like we’re trying to relive our misspent teenage years. Haha!
Neon made several appearances on the spring 2013 runways in New York, but my favorite neon moment at fashion week was a Marchesa gown that had the most gorgeous neon pink overlay. The moral of the story here is that neon CAN be grown up!
An easy way to insert the tiniest pop of neon into your look is with an accessory. A neon belt or fedora would add some fun to a sweet chambray sundress for instance. The same can be said for a little pair of neon flats or a mini bag.
You could take an edgier approach by styling a neon accessory with leather. A pair of leather skinnies and a black tank would look killer with studded bracelet or neon skinny belt. Channel that inner punk rocker! If you grew up in the seventies and eighties like moi, you KNOW the punk look made an impression on you!

For you mamas on the go, a neon tee and relaxed knit sweater are perfect pieces to add to your spring wardrobe. Throw them on with a pair of crisp white Bermuda shorts and you’ll be perfectly on trend, yet comfy.
If you’d like to delve into the neon trend a bit more, try a neon dress on for size. Avoid cheap materials if you’re going the dress route. A neon frock in a luxe fabric like tweed can be oh so sophisticated!
If you just can’t bring yourself to invest in a neon accessory or piece of clothing, why not try an uber bright lipstick? Bright pink lips are flattering on so many skin tones and lipstick is a great, budget friendly way to try out a trend that you aren’t quite sure about.
So, what are your thoughts on spring’s neon fashion trend? Is it a do or don’t?
