Chevrolet Appreciation Day: Momtrends and 10 blogging families hit the road this past weekend for an action-packed adventure to Hershey Park. As part of the family-getaway, Chevrolet provided our group with a collection of cars to get to Pennsylvania to experience Chevrolet Appreciation Day where they had the opportunity to test out several fuel-efficient and family-friendly models that the company has to offer. This includes family cars like the spacious Equinox and Traverse to the Cruze Eco to the Malibu Eco - all offering unique features for families on-the-go.

Chevrolet Appreciation Day, held three times a year at Hershey Park, is a way that the company celebrates Chevy family loyalty from the past, present and the future by providing free ride-and-drives and access to the 10,000 square foot Chevrolet Experience Tent where families can enjoy complimentary refreshments, popcorn, an hourly magic show and have the opportunity to check out the latest Chevrolet vechicles all in one roof.

To start our trip, we rode to Pennsylvania in the Buick Enclave, a luxury fuel-efficient SUV that allows for seating for seven-eight passengers. With three rows of seating, I loved that I could comfortably fit two car seats, a portable crib, and of course our bags for the weekend in the car with no one getting squished. The car had an ample amout of space with details that matter for families like sufficient cup holders, ample leg room, and unique amenities like a DVD Navigation System and a Rearview Camera System that was ideal for parallel parking. While on the road we also loved how quickly the air conditioner went on and that there was the option to control the temperature settings throughout the vechile and adjust who gets cool air. With one nap and one round of "Are we there yet," we made it to the hotel excited for our fun weekend getaway.

After a restful night at the Hilton Garden Inn, we enjoyed a morning session with Bill Fleck, Regional Marketing Manager of Chevrolet. Bill spoke of how Chevy is changing their company culture and that they understand the dynamics of what a modern family needs in car. They are also committed to change and will even send their team to Disneyland to receive extensive customer service training.

At the event we also had the chance to listen to Malibu Mom and aerodynamic engineer Suzanne Cody. An aerodynamic engineer, mother of two, and a popular roller derby skater known as Shovey Camaro,' named after Chevrolet's Camaro sports sedan, Suzanne and the Malibu Moms are responsible for engineering today's family vehicles by using their expertise to create cars that are fuel-efficient, safe, extremely quiet and available for purchase today. Suzanne also helped improve the air quality for the 2013 Chevy Malibu that allows it to achieve incredible fuel economy. I loved hearing her story and she is a part of the new General Motors as the company and working with and listening to what families need in their cars.

After breakfast we all had the chance to head to Hershey Park and test drive several Chevrolet vehicles like the uber sleek Corvette, Camaro Convertible, the extended-range electric Volt, and the new 2013 Malibu Eco. My husband had a thrill driving the Corvette where he had the chance to circle around a designated area before entering the park. We also loved test driving the Traverse and Cruze Eco, which was particularily fun for us to since we are looking to purchase a car and want to better understand the various features in different models.

After our test drive we hit the park and loved every second of checking out kiddie rides, the boardwalk area and eating lots of chocolate! It was a lot of fun to experience Hershey Park through the eyes of my children since I also went their a lot when I was a kid. My older daughter loved her time at the East Coast Waterworks and she even wanted to experience some thrills by riding a roller coaster! Hershey designated the height limits by their candy bars, so my little Reese's Cup will have to wait a few years! My baby loved the characters, animals from Zoo America and Sandcastle Cove where she could waddle and splash in the cool water. We also had a blast at Chocolate World where we went on a free tour and eyed the millions of candy bar options from this iconic brand.

In between rides, we went to the Chevy tent to take a break in the air conditoned tent and grab a snack. We also spoke with Bill who gave us a run-down of the cars on display and spoke highly of the Equinox for families as well as the Cruze Eco. Hoping to buy our first family car in a few months, Bill was extremely knowledgeable and understood the factors that go into purchasing a car while living in the city. He also noted that Chevy pays attention to detail with advanced technology, fantastic gas mileage and spacious seating that is ideal for today's family!

After a packed weekend of rides, family time and lots of chocolate we loved the adventures of having a road trip while also learning more about Chevy and what they offer the modern family.
