One of the coolest parts of my job is heading to the beauty lab. Which is pretty much my bathroom. This time I'm studying the Tria Age-Defying Laser. Every week dozens of brands send me lotions, potions and gels trying to get me to buy into what they are selling. Most of them smell lovely, have expensive packaging and slick marketing. Most of them work to some degree as short-term fix or to give a little beauty boost. Lasers aren't meant to be cute or to lure you in with packaging. They are meant to work.
When Tria approached me with the new Age-Defying Laser, I jumped at the chance to try it. I have seen how effective laser hair removal is. I know what lasers can do to fade spots. Getting my hands on one that might help fight aging? That was the kind of beauty testing I crave.
In my anti-aging skin care treatments, I've yet to try a laser. It's been a lot of serums and lotions. If you wanted the benefits of a laser treatment you needed to see a dermatologist. Now you can visibly restore the natural luminosity of your entire face and smooth hard-to-treat wrinkles in the comfort of home. Penetrating beams of light continuously rebuild collagen beneath the skins surface (clinically known as non-ablative fractional laser treatments), and you can start to see a more youthful, radiant and refreshed look in as little as two weeks.
Targeted beams of light work below the skins surface to stimulate collagen and elastin production for visibly younger and more radiant skin. Its safe, effective and easy to use.
Set up and start is easy. My Tria Age-Defying Laser arrived fully charged, but you'll want to make sure you have a good strong charge before you start. Start with a clean dry face. I've been using the Tria Priming Cleanser on nights I know I'm using the laser, but I also tried it with my La Prairie cleanser and it worked fine.
For the first few weeks, I kicked off the treatment on training level #1. This is the lowest setting--it's a way to get used to using the laser and to get your skin prepped to move up to treatment level 2. Suggested use of the Tria Age-Defying Laser is 5 days a week for 12 weeks. I am sticking to Sunday through Thursday (a school-night schedule).
What did it feel like? Tingly. Nothing like a hair removal laser used on me in the NYC salon I go to (ouch!). There are tiny little zaps (no noise, just a feeling) so I know it's working, but this level is 100% pleasant.
To use, you think of your face in four zones. During the treatment you'll hear a short beep letting you know it's time to move zones. No weird odor of fried skin, no annoying noise--just a bit of whirring and then the "dun-du-dun" of the treatment being finished. Just a minute or two and then you're done. Its safe to use on the forehead, cheeks and around the eyes.
The results so far are lovely. My dull, dry winter skin looks fresher and younger. I've noticed the "crows feet" around my eyes and the forehead area lines are the most effected by the treatment--I've seen them go down a bit.
After three weeks on level #1, I am now kicking off treatment level #2 and will be on this level for the next four weeks. Remember this is a 12-week process in total.
Nighttime is best for this treatment. If you do experience redness, the night hours will allow the redness to fade. Apply the Finishing Serum after treatment to soothe the skin. Be sure to check back with me next month as I report on phase 2 of the experiment.
The Tria Age-Defying Laser is the only FDA-cleared at-home technology currently available that treats multiple signs of aging.
