Mary Alice Haney has done it all when it comes to fashion--she's worked as a stylist, magazine editor, TV host & and is currently producing a show for The Style Network called Closet Confidential.
Mary Alice Haney earned her MFA from LA's prestigious American FIlm Institute and Studied at Parson's School of Design in Paris. The glossies are a big part of Mary Alice's world. She's worked at Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, GQ and Allure where she styled photo shoots and worked as an editor. During her career, the 41-year-old, LA style star has worked with some of the biggest celebrities as a stylist--including Blake Lively, Eva Mendez and Molly Sims.
I caught up with her on the phone this week to chat about her new show and her busy and fashionable life. She's got a blended family with five kids and really does try to have it all. She travels and works around the needs of her career and her family.
On a normal day, Mary Alice does mom duty in the morning including a school run, and then gets in her daily workout. After that, all bets are off. She could be out pulling clothes for a photo shoot, working on her fashion line or developing ideas for her show Celebrity Closet Confidential. Here's a look at her new project:

Mary Alice works out of her home and tries to unplug when the kids are around. When I asked if she longed for an office away from the clamor of home she said, "No, I really prefer to work from home." Currently she consults for Marie Claire and Cosmo and loves here flexible live. "At this part of the game, I don’t think I could go to a 9-5 life. I feel like I have it all," said Mary Alice.
I asked Mary Alice what trends she was keen on for spring and what I needed to add to my closet. Her advice? "It’s more important to actually go into your own closet and shop your own closest. Try on things. Ask yourself what things are still working for you?" From there, Mary Alice said to find the pieces that are great building blocks.
"Do you have that black dress you can dress up with jewelry?" asks Mary Alice. I love her approach--it's about building a wardrobe, not chasing every trend, When she does shop, she goes in for labels. When I asked about her personal style she said, "I am a high-end girl. Gucci, YSY... I buy iconic pieces. I would rather spend money on one thing I will wear for the next 20 years." The next big question: Shoes or handbags? The shoes win. "I get one great handbag a year--right now it's a huge YSL bag," she says.
Veering towards sexy over ladylike, Mary Alice also says she's low maintenance when it comes to getting ready. "I can be ready in 5 minutes," she said. The regular blow-outs help since her hair is always camera ready. As for her beauty routine, Mary Alice relies on Dr. Jessica Wu products and monthly facials at Dayle Goddess skin.
