Little Black Dress Roundup#lb by kristinleigh featuring black cocktail dresses/American Eagle Outfitters v neck lace dress / Plus size black dress / Calypso St Barth black cocktail dress / Karen Millen pleated dress / H & M black strapless dress
If there is one piece that EVERY girl needs in her closet, it's the little black dress. The LBD is an absolute workhouse when we're talking about multi-purpose pieces. Many of them can be dressed up or down with ease and are at home in a variety of settings. I have several in my own closet and, believe me, the cost per wear ratio of my LBDs has made them practically free at this point. Haha!
Now that the holidays are nearly upon us, it's a great time to invest in a little black dress or two. Even if you already own one, I bet you could find use for another one. I don't know about you, but my calendar is already filling up with holiday events. I don't really want to invest in a bunch of new dresses, so being able to repurpose a little black dress for each event by simply switching up my shoes and/or accessories is clutch.
A basic sheath dress, for instance, is the perfect piece to take you from day to night. Throw a cardigan or blazer on over it for work, then remove your coverup of choice and add some sparkly accessories to make your sheath going out worthy. Holiday happy hour...here you come!
If you're looking for an edgier option, leather is HOT HOT HOT this season and a faux leather LBD can be rocked with everything from color to animal prints. I love going for an unexpected silhouette when it comes to wearing leather, that's just me.
For a dressy affair, consider lace or beaded LBDs. Both are glamorous enough for a cocktail affair and you can change the look of a more memorable fabric like lace by changing up your accessories, like we talked about, and even your makeup. Try smoky eyes at one event and a bold red lip for the next!
So, are you as LBD obsessed as I am lovelies? It really is the perfect cocktail or holiday dress...don't you think?!?
