Hot Summer Books for Moms: Now that summer has officially begun, it's time to sit back and relax with a good book. Whether your reading preference is a snazzy eReader or a good ol' fashioned paperback, there are plenty of fresh, new titles worth checking out. To make it easier, I have narrowed it down to what I think are the hottest new selections for summer 2012.

Hot Summer Books for Moms

I would be remiss if I didn't start off with Fifty Shades of Grey: Book One of the Fifty Shades Trilogy by E L James. Reviews vary, citing it as titillating mommy porn as well as a mega-bestseller. You be the judge. Some library systems are banning it due to its explicit sexual nature. Yet 70-year-old women seem to be smitten with the intriguing Mr. Grey. Sometimes we choose books just to be in the know. This title certainly fits that bill. Beware! It'??s nothing like the bodice rippers our grandmothers used to read.

For reality show fans, Skinnydipping: The Novel by Bethenny Frankel is a must-read. With the debut of her new talk show, her current entre into the world of fiction has landed her back on the New York Times bestseller list. Mimicking her real-life experiences in work and love, this fictional escape is a crowd-pleaser for Bethenny fans galore. For those looking for a light read, this book is ideal for a lazy summer day.

If you're looking for something with more substance, check out my favorite author Karen White's latest release Sea Change. Beautifully written with a backdrop set in historic St. Simons Island, Georgia, it's the story of one woman's journey to connect the past with the present. Often referred to as the voice of women's fiction, White's unforgettable characters will take root in your heart leaving you mesmerized by her unique southern charm.

Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon is one not to miss this summer. You may recognize her as the author of The Slippery Year: A Meditation on Happily Ever After. Her candid memoir depicting her struggles as a wife and mom is an honest take on the ups and downs of motherhood. Now she has written a fictional account of a forty-something wife/mother who is on the verge of being lost in her own marriage. Finally for my Food Network fans, you must pick up Yes, Chef: A Memoir by Marcus Samuelsson. This world-renowned chef and culinary genius opens up about his personal struggles in this emotionally charged memoir. His love for international flavors coupled with his passion for life makes this title the perfect ending for a summer filled with extraordinary literary treats.
