What if you could re-vamp your wardrobe and enjoy a girls night out? That’s the concept behind CAbi Clothing.
I've shared my love of these home-based style businesses. Now I got to take a look at how the show works. A CAbi consultant works with the hostess to plan an execute the event. We gathered at the NYC CAbi showroom to get a feel for a real CAbi evening to prep us for having CAbi sponsor the 3rd Annual Fashion Forward Conference (click here to read more).
Though I know and love the fashions, I’ve never been treated to an in-home event. This evening was a chance to gather a few favorite fashion bloggers who are good friends for a night of style and sipping wine.
Located in midtown, the showroom holds the complete collection. CAbi brought in a seasoned consultant, Barbara to be the evening’s consultant. Most CAbi parties are held at a home. Hostesses can live anywhere as long as a consultant can come to present the line (click here to find the consultant near you).
The typical evening would include food and drink to make it feel social and lively. Think girls night out NOT a hard sell or fundraiser. For our evening we had fresh fruit, wine and cheese. We all had Daniele--the Creative Director for CAbi.
Our evening went swimmingly. Once everyone was gathered with glass a of wine in hand, the consultant went over key fashion themes. Then she walked us through the collection. Barbara pointed out her favorites and showed us how to pair the clothes in unexpected ways. We learned how to rework the collection to make it more business-like or casual. Barbara was also expert at suggesting how the pieces would work with things already in the closet.
Keeping your New Year's resolutions
The New Year is off to a fresh start, and many of us are committed to doing something or many things with more intention this year. But it's tough to stay on track. In fact, “Quitters Day”, which falls on January 14th this year, is the day when most people give up. How can you ...read more

The Best Overnight French Toast Recipe
We've hit the winter lull--that lengthy stretch of season with no plans, no parties, nothing to do, and nowhere to go. I have to admit that at first, I welcomed the quiet obligation-free weekends of January. After the nonstop hustle-bustle pace of November and December, my family ...read more
Then comes the best part: playing with the clothes. Barbara had a variety of sizes to give us and feel for the fit of the clothes. I slipped on jackets and tried on sweaters. Blogging friend Megan Zietz from www.tfdiaries.com tried on jackets. Expect low to no-pressure. It’s all about getting things you love, not making impulse purchases that will never be worn.
Here’s the highlight reel:
After quickly filling out an online order form, the order was placed. It arrived about two weeks later and fit to perfection. Barbara followed up with a call to make sure I was 100% happy.
There’s a lot in it for hostesses too. As your friends purchase you’ll be earning credit towards clothing. It’s a win-win. Your friends look fabulous and you’ll get free clothes.
