When you are in the business of making women look and feel beautiful, sexy and strong it's only natural that you would embrace fitness. Ingrid Carney, the woman behind the Ingrid & Isabel line, knows that beauty starts from the inside out. The San Fransisco entrepreneur and hot mama works and plays harder than most.
Fitness goal for 2010: To achieve work-out balance between spinning, pilates & yoga and a dance class I do every week. It starts with waking up earlier during the week to use the beautiful Spinner bike that Santa delivered Christmas morning! So excited to have it in my home and eliminate the commute to the gym
Biggest fitness accomplishment:I should probably say running the Chicago Marathon. It was a challenge. I put in a lot of work to do it. And, I raised money for Team In Training to do it. But in reality, I think that if I can achieve my goal for 2010, that is a bigger accomplishment than the marathon because now I have two children and a business to manage at the same time. Finding that balance and sticking to it would be a far greater fitness accomplishment for me.

Both! It depends on the workout. I like to run alone and even spin alone but exercise classes can by motivating as well. And when I dance, I dance in a class.

All of the above, except for the mountain and wii parts. There is a great path in San Francisco that runs along the water with full views of the Golden Gate Bridge. That's a nice, flat workout path for walking, running, biking, or simple beachside workouts. I used to see the moms from Baby Boot Camp all the time out there doing lunges with their strollers. Now that I have a Spinner at home, I will look into a DVD to motivate me. Beyond my 2010 fitness goal, I don't think I can fit anything else into my schedule.
My favorite time of the day to workout:
Definitely morning. This way, it's out of the way for the rest of my day. Otherwise, I spend my day wondering if I will make it to the gym at all. And most often I don't...unless its done in the morning.
My sneaky fitness trick:
Well, that would be Pole Dancing. I have been doing Sheila Kelly's S-factor for over three years now and literally can't live without it. The two-hour class combines an hour of Pilates, yoga and strength stretch with another hour of a true athletic challenge on and with the pole. While pole tricks have the stigma of sexy pole dancing, it's a great strength workout. My abs have never in my life been stronger, my arms finally have some shape, and my body confidence is high. But the best part is the personal escape. Similar to yoga, I close my eyes for an hour and empty my brain while doing strength and stretch training, and then open them to swing, sway, climb and flip. The difference is the music. At pole dancing, it fills you. It's slow when it should be, punchy during abs, and rhythmic to get things started. The class and the people literally feed me. I love it.
Why I workout: Two reasons. One, for good health, a good heart, and a strong body. Two, so that what I feel on this inside shows on the outside.
Favorite fitness brand (shoe, apparel, etc.):Nike and ALO.
I'd like to try ____________ this year to keep my routine fresh. Two things. One is called theTRK Suspension Trainer. I have heard rave reviews from people who have used this system. Apparently, it can be set up anywhere, travel with you, and give you a great sculpting workout. The second would be, if I am every in New York, to try a Tracy Anderson class. I believe it's called the Tracy Anderson Method. Looks good!
