I've always had a little thing for the Fair Isle look. I think it's because I live in Florida and have very little need most of the year for the cozy kind of pieces that are typically considered Fair Isle. Plus, there is something so charming about Fair Isle prints, don't you think? Whenever I see one, I have the urge to curl up on the couch with a cuppa something hot and watch a holiday flick. Anyone else?
Now that I have kiddos, I love decking them out in Fair Isle ensembles too. Despite our lack of cool weather, we do usually manage to get up to my family's vacation home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so Fair Isle sweaters and whatnot do get worn at least a few times a year. Can you tell I'm counting down the minutes until our trip in a few weeks? I can't wait to dig out those cozy clothes! I know, I know. That probably sounds crazy to you Northern folks, but this heat wave is driving me nuts. Haha! So, excuse me while I daydream about colder weather and add a few Fair Isle sweaters etc. to our closets...
This season, I'm particularly enamored with Gap's take on the Fair Isle vibe. They knocked it outta the park for both boys and girls. From frocks to cardies, there are plenty of fabulous Fair Isle pieces to choose from. Any one of them would be perfect additions to your kiddo's winter wardrobe! Personally, I'm leaning toward the sweater dress and oversized scarf. Aren't they adorable?!? I can so see my lil' dude and lady bean rockin' them on our mountain retreat...Now we just have to work on getting them some warm boots. I guess you know what I'm shopping for next!
