Exclusive Interview with Frances Fisher for Launch of Titanic 3D

Can you believe that the film Titanicwas launched over 15 years ago! I specifically remember when it came out because I was in high school at the time and had a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio. The love story between Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) went on to win 11 Academy Awards (including the award for Best Picture) that took audience members on the Titanic - showcasing it's glory and unfortunate tragedy in 1912. Get ready to feel old, now it's time for the launch of Titanic 3D.

In the film version of this historical moment, we meet a diverse collection of actors including Frances Fisher (who plays Ruth Dewitt Bukater, Kate Winslet's mother). I recently had the opportunity to chat with Frances about her career, motherhood and being a part of this iconic film. Acting for over 30 years, Frances started as a theater actress in NYC and moved on to film in TV with guest spots on Matlock and Roseanne. In discussing her career and motherhood she noted, "I picked roles that made sense for my family."

She remarked on how always wanting to maintain her career while also being a mother (we love a good Mom Boss) but had to adjust it with roles that allowed her to stay in Los Angeles. She added, "you can do both (motherhood and career), but something things have to be adjusted to make them work." She also talked about being a part of the iconic film, and working with director James Cameron. "He had a vision - a passion - that was infectious." She added, "seeing the spectacle come to life was all a part of that vision." I also asked her about the new generation of Titanic viewers and she remarked how excited she was for them to see it - and experience the new and exciting 3D effects.
