I'm not fooling anyone into thinking I am a coupon blogger. So I was a little surprised to be invited to CVS's blogger event at their Rhode Island headquarters. After a few days immersed in the culture, I discovered that CVS has a lot to offer ALL types of bloggers--they have a ton of products for stylish women and offer amazing values for busy moms. Time to dig in and find out more.
Before the trip, I signed on for an ExtraCare card--CVS's value-oriented savings card. I've got a CVS I regularly shop at in my Brooklyn neighborhood but I never took time to find out about the card. I guess I am the exception. Now there are 70+ million households that have used the card in the last 6 months! In fact, 1 in 3 people in the US have and ExtraCare card. That means shoppers have scored $2.2 billion in savings rewards in 2012.
When it comes to saving money at drugstores, I was one of the least educated bloggers at the event. Many have been working with CVS for years and have master the art of the deal. The team at CVS caught me up as quickly as possible. Things aren't just getting easier for me, there are some changes coming to make using the card even more seamless for everyone. They are shortening the length of the receipts and shoppers can use phone number at the Coupon Center to locate their savings number (Coupon Centers are those kiosks you can find at every store).
In addition to ExtraCare, I heard all about the pharmacy as well. Savvy shoppers can sign up for Pharmacy & Health rewards. In a nutshell: Shoppers get rewards for filling prescriptions. For every 10 refills you get $5 and you can get additional credit for getting a flu shot. I got mine as at CVS as soon as I got home.
I also learned that having one pharmacy home is key. Did you know: 30+million Americans take more than 5 prescriptions regularly! Medications and drug interactions can occur. Having one spot with all your details is key.
Don't worry it wasn't all serious. We had some fabulous meals in Providence and got treated to a little pampering. CVS set up a mini spa for us. I got a manicure with Nuance products developed by Salma Hayek.
The last day of the event had me heading home early, I missed the holiday preview, but I did get to see photos of a few items. Here's Audrey McClelland showing off some cute Santas and a bright and cheery wreath.
Momtrends was not paid for this post. I was given an iPad Mini and travel fees for the trip.
