This Sunday, February 21, Brooklyn Ballet holds auditions for its star-studded International Summer Ballet Intensive. Promising ballet students ages 11-18 will audition for acceptance and placement in Brooklyn Ballets first international summer intensive.
Brooklyn Ballets Summer Intensive, July 3 through July 24, will be held in Downtown Brooklyn. The intensive is a joint effort between Lynn Parkerson and Caridad Martinez of Brooklyn Ballet and Luc Louis de Lairesse, the founding director of Belgiums Ballettoday. With more than 150 students from Brooklyn and Europe slated to participate, the workshop will expand Brooklyns presence in the international dance scene while offering exclusive professional training to students in the borough and beyond.
The cost of the intensive is low, $900 for three weeks of incredible teaching by many of the worlds most renowned faculty. In addition, hosting the international summer workshop will aid in Brooklyn Ballets mission to highlight Brooklyns place on the international stage and contribute to cultural tourism in the borough. The program provides opportunities for further community outreach, chiefly through free outdoor performances of classical repertory and contemporary works created during the intensive. Please bring a headshot. Pointe will be included in girls' auditions.
