Don't you love a trend that works for everyone? The black and white trend of this spring is so easy to pull off--any you likely have everything you need in your closet already!

Since I wanted to draw attention upwards I put the print on top. If you are top-heavy, dotted pants and a solid blouse are also an option. Once I had the dots (from Zara), I brought out some old Ralph Lauren Collection pants. They are this terrific linen/denim combo with awesome white pick-stitching. Circa 2000, they still look good. I also brought out the RL slingbacks in black and white--they were from the same season. I had a lot of swank clothes from this era since I was the Asst. General Manager of the store on Madison Avenue. Lots of heels and fancy frocks.

Now I've re-invented the clothes with the fun less-serious top and a playful bag from Charming Charlie's. The two new pieces were under $100 combined. Remember: Always shop your closet first before jumping on a trend!

Monday Mingle is a fashionable collaboration between me, Jill from Glamamom and Kristin from BonBonRoseGirls. Each week we post about our personal style and then invite our friends to join in the fun. Today Jill plays host at We rotate each week. Everyone is invited!

Momtrends was not paid for this post. As always, we get a lot of free clothing to style. But no one paid me to put any of this together.
