In celebration of Ocean Spray'??s 6th annual Big Apple Bog, Martha Stewart and 45 lucky NYC public school children enjoyed a culinary delight amongst 2,000 lbs of floating cranberries '?? the largest ever installed cranberry bog in Rockefeller Center. Don'??t worry if you don'??t know what a bog is - nearly three quarters of Americans have never heard of a cranberry bog. Not for long...

We got the scoop on cranberry bogs, yummy cranberry recipes and partnerships to end childhood hunger. It looks like a beautiful pool of red water, but when you look closely there are billions of cranberry vines growing in wet, marshy areas called bogs. The fruit of the vine is a berry, initially white, but turns deep red when fully ripe.

Cranberry bogs are located primarily in the Northern United States.

Ocean Spray is the leading manufacturer of cranberries with over 700 families who own the cooperative (who knew?), some 4th generation families. You can meet some of these families and learn more about their life harvesting cranberries by watching this touching 3 minute video

Following the bog event on the Plaza, we joined the Ocean Spray team and Martha Stewart for sweet cranberry cocktails, stylish cranberry table designs, and delicious cranberry horderves on the rooftop garden at Rockefeller Center. The amazing view of 5th Avenue and St. Patrick'??s Cathedral, wasn'??t enough to veer our eyes from the creatively decorated tables. We love the turkey-shaped cranberry centerpieces and the micro-suede foliage mats.

Our favorite refreshment, made by none other than Martha Stewart, was the Cranberry Trifle. This is a must dessert for any Thanksgiving or Holiday table.

And finally, let us remember others during this holiday season (and always). Nearly one and four kids in America won'??t get the food he or she needs to be healthy (contrary to Michelle Obama's initiative).

Ocean Spray is sharing the bounty of their harvest by partnering with Share Our Strength and so can we. Just simply take Share Our Strength'??s '??No Kid Hungry'?¢ Pledge'? to end childhood hunger by 2015 at www.nokidhungry.org/oceanspray.
