Date night got a boost from Red Rover last week as Mr. Momtrends and I hit a red carpet premiere of Before Midnight. This is the third collaboration between actors Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and director Richard Linklater.
A group of A-listers gathered at the Tribeca Grand Screening room for cocktails and up-close interviews with Julie and Ethan. The actors shared that they don't spend much time in between filming (the last movie debuted 9 years ago). They just naturally fall into a rhythm. The dialog was mostly written by the actors and the zingers--the lines that cut me to the bone--were written by actors we genuinely like each other!
How's the movie? Intense and gorgeously filmed. Part III is shot in Greece and takes a look at Jesse and Celine as they are deep into the reality of parenting. This is a raw, real look at relationships nine years in and post-kids. We all know there are highs and lows and believe me it's all on screen. The acting and the script is well-crafted. It's indie filmmaking at its best. You can find out more about the film here www.sonyclassics.com/beforemidnight

It was a perfect date night for the two of us, as we are both movie buffs. And it must be said I do like a good red carpet. It was a treat to meet Ethan Hawke and chat with Julie Delpy (she is lovely, bright and indeed has a delightful edge).
