What's new at American Girl? An expanded line of Bitty Baby dolls that offer more options to get a babydoll that looks just like your girl. We got the news first while I was in Chicago for the BlogHer13 Conference. Two of my blogging pals, Danielle and Jenny, hosted a fabulous event at the Chicago flagship American Girl Store. The after-hours event was hosted in the cafe and then we had a chance to shop the store.
And shop I did...
Molly is being "archived" so I bought up all the accessories I could for my Molly-loving girl.
But back to the Bitty Baby news. It's big. Since 1986, over 23 million American Girl dolls have been sold through the companys catalogue, retail stores, and website. That's a lot of dolls. It's the quality, wholesomeness and history that keep moms and daughters coming back.
American Girl introduced the Bitty Baby® and Bitty Twins® lines for younger girls ages 3 to 6. These dolls are soft and huggable and inevitably encourage the classic family play narrative. Since girls come in all colors, it's so wonderful that American Girl is embracing this with 11 options. There are new skin tones and hair- and eye-color combinations, plus beautifully illustrated picture books filled with heartwarming adventures. The Bitty Baby booksare fantastic for sharing mommy and me reading time. Fans will likely want to continue the collection by adding premium play sets and plush animals.
There will be contests and special promotions coming soon for the new dolls.
