Lunchbox Interview with Evette Rios

Did you know that most moms believe that the back to school season is the real new year, where according to a recent survey 61% of moms resolve to get their families eating healthier this back to school year. This is a great way to start the year off on the right foot, but busy parents have a huge challenge packing lunches for their kids, trying to balance convenience, cost and healthy choices. The survey also found that nearly 50% of moms say that the cost of fresh produce and healthy foods can be obstacle. We decided it was time for a Lunchbox Interview with Evette Rios.

To learn more about how to eat healthy without breaking the bank, I recently had the chance to chat with Evette Rios (http://www.evetterios.com/), a lifestyle expert for outlets like The Food Network and Everyday with Rachael Ray, who shared some tips about healthy back-to-school lunchbox ideas for our kids. I am all for new tips, and especially if they involve money and time saving solutions to me kick-off the school year on the right foot.   • Fresh can be best - Try reinventing some veggie ideas with crumbled feta cheese or whole wheat pita chips.
  • Include Cool Foods - New healthy snack items that your kids haven't tried yet.
  • Yogurt Sundaes - Fun yogurt flavors topped with fruit and nuts are just as tasty as the higher calorie counterpart.
  • Look for store and package labels that indicate healthier options and a good value.
