The most amazing time of year is here. Yep, I'm talking about strawberry season! Here in the south, even though it has been a bit rocky this year with the weather, the strawberries are coming into season.
The roadside stands are popping up, and the farmer's market is full of vendors with these ruby-colored jewels. Delicious. Some of my best childhood memories are picking strawberries with my family. Now, I take my son berry picking, and he adores it. We always pick extras and freeze them so we can enjoy them later.
There are so many options when it comes to using these delectable fruits. One of my favorite recipes is this tasty strawberry banana daiquiri. And with warmer weather on its way, this is the perfect boozy treat.
For this daiquiri, I use frozen strawberries and bananas. Using frozen fruit adds to the creaminess of the cocktail. I also use spiced rum as I think it lends more flavor to the cocktail. I've seen white rum used in many recipes, so if you don't have spiced rum on hand, you can give that a try. I personally don't think the drink turns out quite as well.
On average, I add a shot of rum per drink, 1 cup of strawberries, 1 banana, and 1 cup of ice. Typically, I make this by the blender full. You can't beat hanging out with your girlfriends while enjoying the sunshine and a pitcher of daiquiris.
Ingredients- Makes two cocktails
2 cups of frozen strawberries
3 oz spiced rum
2 frozen bananas
2 cups ice
Add all ingredients to your blender and blend away. Be sure not to leave any large chunks and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
