My resolutions this year all involved diet. I'm doing my best on organization and fitness, but sugar, wine and salt--they are my friends. To clean up my act, I'm adding Kusmi Detox Tea to my daily regime (we have some more detox tips here). The best part of this healthy change is that it doesn’t require any major modifications to your diet or lifestyle.

Using the Right Green Tea

The French brand has a long history of tea making. I've sampled a lot of the loose teas and loved the rich flavors (I don't drink coffee). For January, I am detoxing with this blend of matcha and Chinese green tea flavored with lemon and lemon grass. Green tea is supposed to be a miraculous drink. In theory it helps the body flush toxins.

The Benefits of Green

I got this from WebMD: "More than a decade's worth of research about green tea's health benefits -- particularly its potential to fight cancer and heart disease -- has been more than intriguing, as have limited studies about green tea's role in lowering cholesterol, burning fat, preventing diabetes and stroke, and staving off dementia." Seriously if this even has a chance to keep me from having a heart attack, loose my memory, and keep me thin, I'm in!

I've been sipping a cup every morning or in the mid-afternoon as a pick me up. Green tea can sometimes be a little smokey or bitter. This blend used lemon grass to mellow out the harsher tastes. Use the loose tea in sachets or rely on the individually-wrapped muslin tea bags. It's a small way to show your body some love. I demand a lot from myself--long, busy days, athletic rigors, etc. Fueling it the right way is the perfect thank you.
