The Northeast Girl : Jeans and a (Not-So-Simple) Tee

Well, it's Friday and it's one day closer to summer vacation! And I, of course, say that with caution as I know one of the perks of being an educator is that we have a lovely little 3 month hiatus to look forward to while the rest of the working world - does not. While teaching can be quite exhausting throughout the year, the gratification of teaching today's youth surely pushes me through even the most trying days. Oh - and that lil' summer break we work for all year keeps my spirits high as well.

Now that the weekend is just about here, I'm not even ashamed to say that my work pants, skirts, shirts, and sweaters (my room is an ice box!) are all pushed to the side and my favorite casual wear comes out to play. When Saturday morning rolls around and I start to tend to my five year olds insanely busy social schedule, I know I want to get up and dressed to my best, but keep things easy and most importantly - comfortable. Oh yes, comfort is key!

I have more basic tees than I'm even willing to admit so lately, I've been looking to find basics that have just a little bit something more than a simple crew or v-neck in one color. Surely there has to be better options out there, right?! I just can't bring out the boring any longer when there's little details here and there that are just dying to be shared.

Well, ladies, good news. Not only do we have some fun options, it's getting hard to narrow it down and pick my favorites! (Don't worry, I did and you'll see some of my top picks down below!)  I'm officially making it my mission to skip the ultra-basics and find some everyday, easy and affordable tops and tees that you can incorporate into your closet. Even though I'm seriously tempted sometimes to toss on some yoga pants and my old college t-shirt, I am making sure I can still get myself dressed each day without looking like I'm headed for a workout.

I adore this eyelet cap sleeve tee because it's uber mama-friendly. There's no possibility of a wardrobe malfunction and it's going to look cute and presentable no matter what your plans hold for the day. Birthday parties, grocery store, park, playdates - you name it, you're set. Eyelet is and always will be one of my favorite feminine features that will never goes out of style.

In keeping with my casual Friday look here, I'm sharing these great denim shorts that are pretty much going to be your "go-to" pair this summer. I actually gave them an extra roll today but the inseam is quite long and I'll toss in a picture from one of my recent posts over at The Northeast Girl where I kept them at the longer length. It's totally your preference, which is awesome, and I love the way they look long or with one extra roll.

I know some fashionistas out there might not agree but this Northeast Gal loves a little "matchy matchy" when it comes to pulling my outfit together. I am a cognac leather junkie and I think nothing looks more polished then when all my accessories come together in perfect harmony. Sure, a little contrast and compliment will always find it's way into my closet but on most days, I love it when all that leather looks like one big happy family. So, my wedges, which have been an absolute favorite for over a year are here to give my legs a few more inches and still keep my feet in a comfortable state. I love wedges because they're all about the height without the high heel. They have officially taken over my closet!
