New Year's Eve has taken on a whole new meaning now that I am a momma to three littles. Long gone are the all night celebrations. Bring on the intimate family gatherings that let us spend time doing what we love best, being together. Although we still get dressed up and plan for a fun evening, the party is usually in rather than out. This year we are ordering our favorite take-out and have an epic game night lined up.
My son received the Nintendo Switch for Christmas and although I am usually not one for video games, have fallen smitten to the new Carnival games. (My bigs actually reviewed the Carnival Games as part of their enrichment program and it was a big hit with all the kids!) The graphics are realistic, the content kid-friendly (and family friendly!) and the games are a good mix fun, familiar and entertaining. I love that up to four of us can play together at one time and that there is a healthy mix of competition and playful exchange of strategy.
Tabletop Shuffleboard is also on the agenda. We got into playing Shuffleboard while we were at family camp in Mount Snow this summer. (Side note, now is a perfect time to book!) Shuffleboard is a lot of fun and now with this tabletop version we can bring the fun indoors and play anytime. The high-quality wooden table top version fits in any game room or play area. (When it is set up, it is more than 5 feet long but folds up compactly for storage.) Two or more players makes this an ideal game for New Year's Eve.

Now that the kids are getting a bit older, we are excited to challenge them and use their creative skill set (which is much stronger than ours!) Our kids can't get enough of the Playfoam Pals® moldable foam that never dries out so Sculptapalooza is going to be right up their alley. This hilarious new party game from Educational Insights gets teams thinking fast as they speed sculpt their way through challenges for loads of giggles and fun! Two teams take turns drawing cards and using squishy, squashy Playfoam® to sculpt what they see. But hold on tight! You might have to sculpt with your eyes closed, use your sculpture as a charades prop, or tag team with another player.
To keep tradition alive, we are honoring my late aunt by playing her favorite game, Scrabble. Scrabble Deluxe is a beautiful version of the standard Scrabble but in a easy to carry case and a rotating gameboard that eliminates the need to read upside down. The new and improved non-slip grid keeps tiles in place and helps create the ultimate game-playing experience.
