We are pretty excited that the Summer Olympics are starting this month. And when we get excited, we turn that energy into crafting power. This time we came up with a tutorial on how to make your own Olympic medals.

Let the Games Begin
Maybe the year-long delay in the games is adding to the excitement, but we can't wait to watch the games. The 2020 Summer Olympics, became the 2021 games. It's officially the Games of the XXXII Olympiad. To help on this project, we enlisted master crafter Karimah Henry from the site craftingafunlife.com.
Olympic Medals Supplies
- Canning lids
- Red, white & blue striped grosgrain ribbon - 5/8" (6 yards)
- Gold paint
- Paint brush
- Glue gun with glue sticks

- Start by adding an old newspaper or plastic tablecloth to your table. This activity may get a little messy especially with smaller children.
- Next, paint the canning lid with gold paint. Set it aside and allow it to dry.
- Finally, cut about 24 inches of ribbon then glue it to the back of the canning lid. Let everything dry and get ready for your ceremonies.
Medal Ceremonies at Home
We love the idea of rewarding these medals for fun backyard games, like three-legged races and pillow case races. Or reward a child each day with the medal for helping with chores and spending the most time on summer reading.
