Kids Day at the US Open

Mark your calendar for Aug. 27th. A cornerstone event of US Open Fan Week since 1997, Arthur Ashe Kids' Day powered by Net Generation is back!

From 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. your family can enjoy a fun-filled, full day of free activities for fans of all ages. The first 1,000 kids through the gates will get a free Wilson tennis racquet.*

Arthur Ashe Kids' Day is traditionally held on the Saturday of Fan Week. Activities include tennis on 14 courts, and a wide range of interactive activities for children of all ages and skill levels organized by Net Generation.

Tennis games aren't all that goes on around the grounds on this busy day. Kids can have their fun off the court with face-painting and airbrush tattoos, a juggling workshop, hair beading and braiding, and storytelling stations. Balloon artists and other roving entertainers will also be thrilling attendees with their talents.

Singer-songwriter Em Beihold will perform on the AAKD Center Stage positioned outside Ashe in the South Plaza.

What to Wear

To participate in interactive games, kids must wear sneakers or may be asked to remove their shoes. Those with special needs are welcome on all courts. Court times for all activities will vary throughout the day.

After getting their fill on and off the court, inspiration will surely strike further when kids watch their favorite ATP and WTA players practice. With the start of the year's final Grand Slam just two days away when the gates open, pros will be training throughout the day in Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand, as well as on Court 17 and Practice Courts 1-5.

About Arthur Ashe

Arthur Ashe firmly believed that tennis had the ability to teach life skills. All kids needed, he said, was a chance. To give them that, Ashe, along with longtime friends Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder, founded the National Junior Tennis League in 1969. It was created as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people, with the hope of teaching them the importance of character, getting an education and becoming productive citizens.
