I steal from my child. No, not dollars from her piggy bank (although Ive grabbed quarters for parking meters and always replaced with interest). I mean, from her beauty ritual. With all the rich emollient creams they make to protect young ones' skin, winter is a great time to sift through their bathroom drawers to show your skin some TLC.
A step in her morning routine (somewhere between choosing a hair band and kissing me goodbye), she hits the lip goo and hand stuff before she hits the winter day. Between the chilly temps outside and the drying air inside, her skin usually comes home red and itchy if we dont slather it on.
And so began my story of thievery.
One dry winter morning, she used Orico Londons Little Love Protecting Baby Skin Balm. I applied it to the backs of her hands, smoothed it in and then rubbed in the leftovers into my thirsty skin. I stopped in my frozen tracks. This stuff was amazing. It has a natural blend of neroli, shea butter, castor and sunflower oils, and my skin was instantly protected and nourished. It's not greasy. It's not sticky.
This baby cream is for you know babies. You know for sure, because they use cute British words like nappy on the back. But you can always repurpose it for any age. Which is what I plan on doing.
Ill show my little girl a Little Love every morning, and then Ill show myself a bit as well.
Then there was the time I stole a smooch from my daughter and decided to steal her lip balm too.
I was introduced to Little Green this summer, with their fantastic kids shampoo. But today's story is about their incredible lip balm stick. On your little one, The Soothing Balm is perfect for chapped lips, cheeks and redness due to cold weather dry patches. On you, the soothing balm is perfect for chapped lips, cheeks and redness due to cold weather dry patches. Get my snow drift?
I stumbled upon this gem while shoveling us out of the storm this past weekend. It's the lip goo I spoke of earlier that's part of her morning routine against dry skin, and I grabbed it off the counter out of pure laziness.
I didn't feel like running to get my usual lip stuff, so I covered my lips (and my cheeks) with this lightweight balm. I braved the cold, returned an hour later and my skin was not only soft but it wasn't that typical tight and bright red that it usually becomes during shoveling.
The balm has beeswax and jojoba to moisturize and nourish and avocado oil and evening primrose to protect against winter woes. Yet another item I'm taking from my daughter. But she would understand. #dontjudge
