Last week I had the chance to experience a truly unique assignment - check out some properties offered by Karisma Hotelsin the Mayan Riviera and nearby Cancun and what they offer for families as well as couples. Through this incredible experience I learned all about Karisma Hotels and their catalogue of 12 all-inclusive hotels and resorts and their luxurious options for both families and adults only.

The Resorts:

During this experience, I had the chance to stay at the newly opened Generations Maroma, a 30 suite boutique hotel and Azul Sensatori Hotel where I saw firsthand the many offerings for families including the Fisher Price Suite.

Generations Maroma

Starting at the Generations Maroma, I was shocked by the amount of space that includes a fridge, living area, two TVs, two bathrooms, two showers - including one that is outdoors - as well as unique services for families like a 24-hour nanny and butler service, as well as personal beach butlers for adults and kids. I also loved the unique features on the property that included a reading room where you could borrow books or a Nook where you could relax and sit back amongst its gorgeous backdrop.

The resort is located directly across from the stunning Maroma Beach where I was feet away from the peaceful and sandy white beaches. Named one of the top beaches in the world by independent reviewers, including Travel Discovery Channel, this resort is a great option for the entire family (Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, etc) since you can all stay in one location that offers something for everyone. The property is also adjacent to the adult-only resort, El Dorado Maroma, an intimate 99-suite setting. While looking around at the various rooms, I was struck by the luxury that was apparent. This included a feeling of home with a living area and kitchen area as well as a plush bedroom that was mixed with unique attributes like infinity pool suites. Being an adult-only resort, the Maroma is really focused on the experience for coups with rose petals and swan towels on the bed, drawn aromatic baths in the room’s Jacuzzi tub, king-size beach beds that gently swing, Aguas del Amor – exotic, outdoor, private showers that allow complete privacy to lather up under stars or blue skies, and the simple pleasure of a meal served to a table for two, allow couples to reconnect.

I also stayed at the Azul Sensatori Hotel, a 438-suite hotel that includes a contemporary Caribbean style with dark wood accents, canopy beds, plasma TV, DVD player, an in suite Jacuzzi, radio/alarm clock, minibar (that is stocked daily), oversized balcony or terrace, and private marble bathrooms. While this hotel is one of the larger ones in the Karisma property, it never felt overwhelming with people. Since they build out (instead of up with tall buildings), you never feel like the resort is packed. This was really interesting to me since when we were the resort was at capacity but you would never be able to tell by the calm and serene vibe at its beaches, restaurants and the pools.

My favorite hotel that I had the chance to tour was the Azul Beach Hotel, a luxurious resort that is also great for families. This includes its funPack & Play program where families can rent strollers, cribs, baby bottle warmers, baby spa robes, and unlimited Gourmet Gerber Baby Food - for free! This is amazing for those with small children since you don't have to travel with an excessive amount of items. Moms will also love the pampering they can enjoy with dedicated butlers on-hand to provide drinks, tanning products, reading materials, mineral water vaporizers, and more.

Services for Kids and Childcare Options:

Kids will also love the incredible service provided by Karisma. Starting with the Fisher-Price Family Suites, families staying at the Azul Beach Hotel, Azul Sensatori Hotel, and Azul Fives Hotel. can stay in a kid-specific suite that is filled with Fisher Price toys and Little People decor. This also includes a customized voicemail from the Little People getting the kids excited for their stay at the hotel.

While staying at the Azul properties, kids can also enjoy a breakfast with Little People costume characters, Eddie and Mia as well as enjoy a photo session with their families. As a part of the Little People program, guests of the Fisher-Price® Family Suites will be presented with a daily schedule of activities including skits, games, storytelling, Spanish lessons, dance and exercise lessons, weekly piñata parties, and photo sessions.

Kids can also stay in the Azulitos Play House (kids under 5) or the Kids Club (4-12) where they can enjoy a day or a few hours at the facility. This includes everything from arts and crafts to toys to fitness classes. Teens (13-17) will also have fun in the state-of-the-art gaming room, billiards, air hockey, Playstation 3, NEOS, XBOX, Wii, daily activities, and Teens Corner – a non-alcoholic bar and disco.

Another cool feature of the Azul Hotels is their Mini Mayans program, an educational program to teach kids about the Mayan culture. This includes fun and interactive elements such as Give the Mayans a Mano, Mayan Cooking Classes, Mini Mayan Musicians, and Tiempo de Tiles.

Food in Mexico, Mexico

The Food:

Another memorable part of my trip was the food. It was certainly flowing, and I had an incredible chance to try out a little bit of everything like the chance to dine outside overlooking the beach at Generations Maroma where I enjoyed cactus salad, fish and wine from Kendall Jackson winery.

As part of the experience by staying at one of the Karisma properties is that the chefs are open to experiment and use any incidents that they want including herbs from Karisma's own greenhouse. They also partner with Jackson Family wines where guests can sign up for class and tasting with a chef and sommeliers and winemaker as well as enjoy this unique dining experience.

Check out the video about this experience:

At the El Dorado Maroma, I had a chance to tour some of their restaurants (there are four total) that serve fresh, seasonal cuisine as well as the fun bars, including two swim-up bars.

At the Azul Sensatori, I had the chance to enjoy some Mexican food at Zocalo with their delicious homemade tortillas and small bites at Tapaz as well as some delicious Italian fare at Siena.

At the Azul Beach Hotel, I had the chance to learn more about its five Gourmet Inclusive restaurants including Italian from the Roma Family Restaurant, Latin American fare from Latino America, and World Cuisine from Blue International Restaurant. Being a part of the Fisher Price partnership, you will also find a collection of Fisher Price toys, highchairs and Gerber food products waiting for you at all of these restaurants - making it that much easier to enjoy a meal and entertain your kids.

You can really find a little bit of everything at each of their properties, but the difference here (as opposed to other resorts) is the quality is incredible - much like eating in a four-star restaurant, which isn't always the case in many all-inclusive resorts.

Beyond the Resort:

While relaxing and lounging by the pool is amazing, Mexico also offers so many exciting activities fo the entire family like deep sea fishing, snorkeling, diving, and much more. During the trip, I also visited nearby Indiana Joe's (about an hour from the resort) for an incredible day of ziplining, cave exploration, swimming in a cenote and viewing nearby monkeys, deers and wild boar that were all located on this incredible property.

Picking a family vacation isn't easy with so many needs to consider. Staying at one of the properties through Karisma provides families with incredible services such as gourmet food, pools, comfortable accommodations, access to the world's most beautiful beaches, fun childcare - all while experiencing the ultimate experience in luxury and relaxation.
