A few weeks ago my daughter and I escaped to paradise for the weekend. It was quite the luxury as we left fall in NYC for a bright and sun escape to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Having been to the Bahamas on assignment before I was excited to share this special place with my daughter once again, and soak in the beauty and serenity of this amazing place.
Our stay started by checking into the Comfort Suites Paradise Island where my daughter and I enjoyed a spacious room complete with two queen-sized beds, a fridge, flat screen TV and a separate area with a desk and a couch. Another huge benefit was that Comfort Suites Paradise Island is that everyone that stays there gets a free warm breakfast, free WiFi and free access to Atlantis, which is also located right across the street from the Comfort Suites. Additionally, they have 229 newly renovated junior suites, a fun outdoor pool (and swim-up bar) where you and the kids can relax in the morning or during the day.
Being within such close proximity to Atlantis meant that my daughter and I had access to all of their amenities and experiences including the incredible Dolphin Cay, their gorgeous beach, numerous pools, Atlantis Kids Club, shops, restaurants and much more! Having stayed at Atlantis a little over a year ago, I really loved this option as a way to enjoy its numerous amenities and services without paying to have to actually stay there.
With over 34-acres, we started our adventure by walking around where we ended up at the beaches and soaking in the sea-life that was situated throughout the resort. We also loved how, at every turn, there was something new and exciting to discover with some highlights being the Stingrays, Piranhas, Lionfish, Jellyfish, Eels, Parrots, and the amazing experience at the Dolphin Cay.
Like the last time we were there, my daughter was again scared of kissing the dolphins but she still enjoyed the interaction part where we were able to touch them and listen to the instructors who told us all about the incredible dolphins. Not only about seeing the dolphins, this educational experience provided an amazing insight into their behavior and lifestyle as they swam right next to our group.

Another highlight for us was the pools where my daughter and I swim for hours (and some days it was just that). Another bonus was that food and food stands are also nearby at Atlantis where families can enjoy food from quick bites at Dive In, Cave Grill, Shark Bites, Marina's Pizza to options for fine dining at places like Nobu, Mesa Grill and Olives by Todd English.
There are also amazing casual dining options at Atlantis like the family style favorite in Carmine's and Virgil's Real BBQ. Our group enjoyed an incredible family style dinner at Virgil's with some favorites being the popcorn shrimp (with real popcorn!), grilled vegetable salad and the blackened salmon. My daughter loved her chicken fingers and fries, and of course we both enjoyed their amazing desserts - with their apple pie being our favorite.
Another amazing place for kids is Atlantis Kids Adventures (AKA), a 8,000-square-foot state-of-the-art kid’s club that kids 3-12 will love. We toured the kids' club with the group and the kids loved all of the rooms where they could enjoy culinary lessons, interactive electronic art, theater and outdoor play! It was amazing to see how beautiful and cutting-edge this play space was where you could find cool tech features like a talking tree and touch-screen walls as well as incredible ways to spark the imagination with a giant dollhouse, play grocery store, a reading room, arts and crafts room and much more. At the end of the tour my daughter asked to stay where I knew they designed the ultimate place for fun, learning, interaction and play.
At the end of each day, I loved how we had our comfortable and spacious room that was so close by to the action. My daughter easily fell asleep and it was amazing to have access to a hearty breakfast with options like cereals, eggs, yogurt, toasts, waffles and more before our full day at Atlantis. I loved this as an option for families where they don't have to worry about spending all of their money on meals at Atlantis. This is also a great option for families with the free WiFi where you can update your family and friends at home with all the images from the day without paying hefty charges. I also loved this option to catch-up on work at the end of the day when my daughter was sleeping.
This vacation was truly an escape to paradise for us, and with additional amenities and a gorgeous backdrop it is an amazing place that families can enjoy, and best of all afford.
