Summer travel can take us to faraway places, but it can also be fun to explore places that are close to home that you may not have known existed. One such place is Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark and CBK Mountain Adventures, a fun waterpark located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains.
With only 90 minutes from NYC, this weekend away was a great way for the kids to explore a fun waterpark as we all enjoyed some time away. After the tour, we enjoyed a day at Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark, Pennsylvania’s largest outdoor waterpark, for a day of outdoor play. The entire space includes 37 rides, slides and water attractions including the acclaimed FlowRider surfing simulator ride, and Vortex and Spin Cycle bowl rides. We spent the majority of our time exploring Pharaoh’s Phortress at our nearby Cabana where we enjoyed lunch, fruit and cookies in an enclosed area. Featuring eight waterslides for interactive play, the girls loved climbing on this four-story-high platform with bridges, platforms and nets as well as a tipping bucket, fountains, spray guns, rope pulls, twist valves and cannons, geysers, fountains and sprays and much more! Other areas for kids includes the Camel Cove, a family interactive water based play zone with giant tipping bucket and Kahuna Cove, a dedicated zero-depth entry interactive pool for the littlest guests.

How to Get Your Child Involved in Ski Racing
Do you ever watch the Winter Olympics with your family? We sure do at this house. Seeing the ski racers fly down the mountains was a big part of what attracted our girls to ski racing, but the biggest draw was friendship and time spent in the snow. If you are wondering how to get ...read more
The next day we explored CBK Mountain Adventures. My younger daughter was a little young for most of these activities where my older daughter and my husband enjoyed the Mountain Coaster ride that took them up a mountain and then down as they zipped through the trees. This includes a 4500’ steel-track coaster that allows two people to sit back and take in the views fast or slow as they can control the level of speed via a push brake lever. My older daughter kept talking about how fun it was, and from the picture they took of her screaming down the mountain I could see that was certainly the case! My husband also did some zip lining at 4,000 feet. As the longest twin Zip-Flyers in North America, we watched from below as he soared through the air for the ultimate in adventure.
They also offer other adventures such as the Mountain Segways where you can tour the Camelback Mountain trails on Segways equipped to traverse over brush and through rocky rails-to-trail pathways, Euro-Bungee, the FreeFall Air Bag, the Climbing Wall and the Tree Top Tours for an afternoon of adventurous fun.
During our time in the Poconos we stayed at The Chateau Resort. Located at the base of Camelback Mountains, the location was extremely convenient where we were less than three minutes from the water and adventure park. While at the resort, we loved the view of the gorgeous lake where they girls loved seeing the swans and ducks swimming freely. The resort also includes an arcade, an indoor and outdoor pool, and a dining area where you and your family can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Featuring 152 rooms and suites, the location was perfect for jumping in our car and being at the waterpark quickly as well as for a close proximity to other Poconos attractions such as the Crossings Premium Outlets, Skirmish for paintball, rafting, hiking and much more!
As for food, we had the best experience at desaki. I was actually celebrating my birthday, and both my family and I loved the celebration of food and fire as Hibachi chefs prepared our meals. It was the first-time experience for the girls who opted for a chicken, where I had salmon and my husband had steak and scallops - as recommended by the owner. Other delicious options on the menu included lobster, NY strip, and more that is made right before our eyes. This started with an entertaining and fun cooking experience by the chefs at desaki who were lively and energetic as they chopped, cooked and even tossed our food. They engaged our table the entire time and left us all laughing and happy way before food even touched our lips. The girls loved this as they were in awe of everything from the fire to the food. The actual food was also amazing, where in addition to our meals, we had vegetables, rice, lo mein noodles, and a selection of delicious sushi!
With only a short distance of NYC, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, a trip to the Pocono Mountains is a great option to get away this summer where you and your family can enjoy delicious food, fun attractions, shopping and more amongst a beautiful, and truly memorable setting.
