With the many summer parties and outings going on it can be challenging to plan, execute and actually enjoy your party! To help us out I chatted with lifestyle and entertaining expert Brooke Peterson who shared some incredible ideas for having a fun party for the kids. As the owner of Experience Architecture, creating one of a kind projects and events for private Hollywood clients, hotels and celebrities, she is constantly creating new and creative ideas to make entertaining fun and memorable for her clients.

This summer, she also teamed up with Popsicle for their coast-to-coast Popsicle Pop-up Party tour, sharing her tips on hosting your best summer party – from backyard barbeques to family reunions to graduation parties. While color is a beautiful thing, be careful not to overdo it – Brooke’s favorite hues this summer are to mix-and-match vibrant shades like cobalt, sage, goldenrod, purple and creamsicle.

For your own summer party, Brooke shared some fun and easy ways to make your kids' party a hit. Here are a few of her suggestions:

1. Keep it simple: Kids aren't going to realize intricate plans. They want it to be simple and fun and not overly planned.

2. Beat the heat: Offer options like Popsicles that give guests a treat and a welcome relief from the heat. She recommends having a popsicle bar where kids can choose from a variety of flavors.

3.Outdoor parties: For those that are having an off-site party, Brooke suggests having a dry run where you visit the location. She also suggests having a pot-luck style party and do use the seating as decorations. As for the seating, it can also be inexpensive blankets and pillows.

4. Food options: For food, Brooke suggests bento-style options with peanut butter & jelly cut into cookie cutter shapes, almond bars, granola and fresh fruit. She also suggests having a popcorn station where kids can decorate their own boxes.
